Explosion Leaves Traffic Officer Dead in Moscow

(MENAFN) A traffic police officer was killed early Tuesday when an explosive device detonated outside a busy Moscow railway station, the Russia's Interior Ministry reported.

The ministry said the device was set off by an unknown individual near a traffic police vehicle stationed outside Savyolovsky Station, one of the city’s main transport hubs.

"During an inspection of the scene in the square near Savyolovsky Station and a review of CCTV footage, police officers determined that the perpetrator died at the scene," the ministry was quoted as saying by a Russian news agency.

In addition to the fatality, two other traffic police officers were wounded in the blast, receiving urgent medical attention at a nearby hospital.
