Russia alleges France is preparing to deploy troops to Ukraine
(MENAFN) Russia’s foreign intelligence service has claimed that France is preparing to dispatch up to 2,000 military personnel to Ukraine.
According to the statement, the unit would largely consist of French Foreign Legion stormtroopers, many of whom are from Latin American countries. “Currently, legionnaires are already stationed in Polish border regions adjacent to Ukraine, undergoing intensive combat training, receiving arms and military equipment. Their transfer to central regions of Ukraine is planned in the near future,” the statement added.
The intelligence agency further asserted that French hospitals are rapidly expanding capacity with hundreds of extra beds to care for wounded soldiers, while medical staff undergo specialized field training.
In anticipation of potential leaks, Paris is reportedly planning to frame the deployment as a small team of instructors sent to train Ukrainian troops.
